Noah Hansen started tumbling at 9 years old in a weekly recreational class at Wings Gymnastics in Sioux Falls, SD. Before too long, he sought out open gym sessions at all four gymnastics clubs in the city. His interest grew, but competitive aspirations remained unrealized as none of the clubs in Sioux Falls hosted a boys gymnastics team. In 2015, after a long search for coaching talent and lots of begging and groveling, Noah started training on Men's events at Power & Grace Gymnastics. He still trains there with Kevin Knapp. Since Kevin's availability is limited due to his obligations as head coach of Women's Gymnastics at Roosevelt High School, Noah also trains with Alicia Reiners & Brielle Whalen at Wings Gymnastics. By the end of 2016, Noah has built his training regimen up to 9 1/2 hours each week with his gymnastics trainers and 2 hours each week of strength and cardio training at the D1 Sports Training facility in Sioux Falls. Knowing that time was running out for Noah to have a meaningful gymnastics career, Noah and his parents, Garret & Jill Hansen, decided to jump through as many hoops as it took to give Noah the chance to compete. As there are no teams to join in Sioux Falls, Noah and his parents, decided to start Noah's competitive career as a team of one, instead of moving or commuting to another community with an established team. Noah started competing at age 15 in 2017 at Level 4 representing Power & Grace Gymnastics. Since he is only a team of one, and his coaches are all involved in coaching competitive Women's teams, it has proven difficult to get his coaches to accompany him to his meets. His father, Garret, stepped up and trained to become a USA Gymnastics professional in order to coach Noah on the floor at his meets. With a 56 point all-around score at his first two events, Noah began to set his goals a little higher. He will compete at Level 5 for two meets and then attempt Level 6 for his last season meet and at the Nebraska State meet (SD does not have a state meet). If all goes as hoped, he will go to the 2017 Region 4 Championships in Minneapolis at Level 6, setting him up to start the 2017-2018 season at Level 7.
