First, I want to say how proud I am to be a part of the gymnastics community. There are so many amazing people in this sport and I feel so lucky to be surrounded and inspired by them every day. If it weren't for all the great people I've met along the way, my story would not be what it is! So, about me: I am 12 years old and training Level 9. When I was 8 years old I decided I really wanted to learn how to do a back handspring so my parents signed me up for gymnastics. I quickly fell in love with all aspects of gym even though I started out just wanting to tumble. As a late starter to the sport, I have had to work very hard to catch up to the athletes my age, but it has been an awesome journey. Even though it took me 18 months to finally get that back handspring I wanted, I remained determined. I am so glad I didn't give up because things really took off from there. Earlier this year, on my 4th anniversary of beginning gymnastics, I finished the season as a Region 8, Level 8, First Place AA, Vault and Beam Champion. That was very exciting! I am grateful for my coaches, my gym friends and all the fun experiences which are part of being a competitive gymnast. Thanks for letting me tell my story! Good luck to everyone this upcoming meet season!Read more..
