Tiana Louie, 12 years old, is currently training and competing with Waller's GymJam in Santa Clarita, CA with coaches Heila Owston and Jasmine Williams.
Tiana had an impeccable 2018 competition season: personal best scores of 9.575 on Vault, 9.800 on Bars, and 9.750 on Beam, with America’s Top 100 qualifying scores of 9.800 on Floor and twice scoring 38.500 in the All Around. She finished the 2018 season as a Level 4 California SoCal State Champion on the Beam(9.675), Floor(9.775), and All Around(38.500).
In 2019, Tiana competed at Level 5 for Chris Waller’s Heart of a Champion Meet and continued her level of excellence with wins on the Beam(9.700), Floor(9.450), and All Around(37.675), with a Top 3 finish on Bars(9.250) and Top 4 on Vault(9.275). Because of her success at Level 5, Tiana immediately began training for Level 7 and will be competing at that level for the 2019/2020 season.
Tiana’s gymnastics career began when she was introduced to a simple cartwheel at 2 years old. She had tons of fun attending various tumbling classes until she was recognized and invited to train with a new Level 2 pre-team at the age of 6. Full of drive and energy to try something new, she jumped in and began her journey into the world of competitive gymnastics while training with Hugo Cherre & Megan Jones at Hugo’s GymFitness in Santa Clarita, CA.
After Tiana got her feet wet with Level 2, she was advanced to Level 3 the next season. During that next year, it was apparent that her strongest event was the beam. Tiana again advanced to Level 4 the following season; it was during this season she fought injuries to her ankle along with her natural body changes, adding 6 ½ inches to her stature in less than a year. This, along with several changes in the coaching staff at Hugo’s GymFitness, proved to be a challenge that she was able to overcome with tremendous courage and hard work. Tiana continued to train but longed for a gymnastics program that fit her competitive spirit.
Tiana moved over to compete with Wallers GymJam in December 2017. Since her move, she has worked to master a new program, competition style, and training methods. She continues to work hard and pursues her daily mission to do her ultimate best every time.
Tiana had the opportunity to participate at the UCLA Gymnastics Sports Camp for the first time in 2017 and has returned every year since. This is where she had her first exposure to higher level gymnasts and her true passion for the sport was magnified. Her maturity and desire to strive for more have opened the doors to unleashing her true potential. Her continued success has only fueled her drive to meet and overcome the next challenge on the horizon.
